RouteSheet Privacy Policy
Using RouteSheet Lite? Read the RouteSheet Lite privacy policy.
The short version. RouteSheet has no accounts with us, no ads and no tracking by us. Your pickups, notes and phone numbers stay on your device. To show the map, find addresses and give directions, the app sends map areas, addresses and locations to the mapping services listed below. We don't sell anything about you, and we don't receive or keep a copy of your data.
This policy explains what the RouteSheet app ("RouteSheet", "the app") does with information, for the Android app and the web version. RouteSheet is published by Telektronics LLC ("we", "us"). Questions: support@telektronics.com.
What stays on your device
Everything you enter is stored only on your device, in the app's own storage:
- your pickups: names, addresses, notes, phone numbers, the order and whether they're picked up;
- saved routes, your start and finish places, settings, and the last map view;
- a cache of addresses you've looked up, so they don't have to be looked up again;
- a Mapbox access token, if you enter one, or the encrypted company map key if you sign in to the Telektronics account. These are kept encrypted or in app-only storage and are never shown to other apps.
We don't run servers that receive this information, so we never have a copy of it. Device backups are turned off for the Android app, so it isn't copied to cloud backups either. Spreadsheets you import are read on the device and aren't uploaded anywhere.
What is sent to other services, and why
RouteSheet uses outside services to draw the map, find addresses and work out routes. Each of them receives only what it needs, over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Like any website, they also see your device's IP address and basic technical details (such as browser or app version) when the app contacts them.
| Service | What it receives | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Mapbox, Inc. | The map area you're viewing, the access token, and anonymous usage and performance data from the map software (for example, a count of map loads). | To draw the map and satellite imagery. Mapbox privacy policy |
| OSRM routing servers: FOSSGIS e.V. (routing.openstreetmap.de), with the Project OSRM demo server as a backup | The coordinates of your start point, your current location while you navigate, your pickups and your finish point. | To work out drive times, the best pickup order, the route line and turn-by-turn directions. |
| U.S. Census Bureau Geocoder | The street addresses you search for or import. | To find the exact location of a street address. Census privacy policy |
| Photon by komoot GmbH | What you type in search, and an approximate location (your area) so nearby results come first. Also a map location when you long-press the map to add a pin. | To find places and addresses. komoot privacy policy |
| Nominatim, OpenStreetMap Foundation | An address, only when the other searches find nothing. | Backup address search. OSMF privacy policy |
Your notes, phone numbers, the names you give pickups and whether you've picked them up are not sent to any of these services. Only the addresses and locations needed to look things up and plan the route are sent.
Location
If you allow it, RouteSheet uses your device's precise location while the app is open: to show where you are, to start a route from your current position, and for turn-by-turn directions. It does not use location in the background. Your location is sent to the routing servers above as part of a route request, and an approximate location is sent with searches so nearby results come first. It isn't stored anywhere except as the start of the current route on your device. You can turn location off in your phone's settings and set a start address instead.
Microphone and voice
If you use Add by voice, the app asks for microphone access. What you say is turned into text by your device's own speech recognition service. On most Android phones that is provided by Google, and on iPhone by Apple, under their own privacy policies. RouteSheet only receives the text. The text is used on the device to understand commands and addresses; only the addresses are then looked up as described above. Spoken directions are produced by your device's text-to-speech engine. RouteSheet doesn't record or keep audio.
Phone calls
When you tap Call on a pickup, the number is handed to your phone's dialer. RouteSheet doesn't place or log calls.
What we don't do
- We don't ask you to create an account with us.
- We don't show ads or use advertising IDs.
- We don't use analytics or tracking of our own.
- We don't sell, rent or share your information for marketing.
Keeping and deleting your data
Your data stays on your device until you delete it. You can remove pickups one by one or with Menu → Clear all pickups. You can delete saved routes in Menu → Saved routes, and sign out of the Telektronics account in Settings. To remove everything, uninstall the app or clear its storage in your phone's settings. Because we never receive your data, there's nothing for us to delete on our side. The outside services above keep their own technical logs according to their own policies.
Children
RouteSheet is a work tool for drivers and isn't directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect information from children.
Security
All connections to the services above use HTTPS. The company map key is stored encrypted, and backups of the app's data are turned off on Android. No system is perfectly secure, so please keep your phone locked.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll publish the new version with a new effective date in the app and wherever it is posted online.
